I have a seven year old daughter named Mira and a two year old son named Landon. They do strange things, and I find myself saying even stranger things to them. These are the things I never thought I would say, before I was a father.

Happy Half Birthday
Mira is two and a half years old today. We didn't do anything special, but we did have a present for her. One day last spring Toys R Us was having a big sale on Chuggington toys. I went and stocked up, and we have been doling out things for the last six months. Today I asked Mira if she wanted a present. She said,"Yes," and walked right to the closet door were we keep them. Two and a half, and she has already figures out our present hiding place. I guess we'll have to find a new spot for Christmas.

Daddy/Daughter Day
Sarah went to visit her friend today, who is having her own baby girl sometime in the next few weeks. The original plan was for Mira to go with her, but early this morning, she crawled into bed with me and said she wanted to stay with Daddy. So, we spent the day together at home. We played with her Chuggers all morning and had lunch. At nap time, I tried to get her to lay in her bed, but she cried and said, "I want to lay with Daddy.". Being the big softy that I am, I let her lay on me on the couch until she fell asleep, then I carefully moved her to her bed. It was a lazy Saturday, but I wouldn't change it for anything. Later on tonight, we are going to dinner with Nana and Grand-dad at Ainsley's for Mira's half birthday. I can't believe she will be two and a half on Tuesday. Time goes by too fast.

More Free Stuff
I know Mira is cute, but I can't believe how much free stuff she gets all the time. One time she got free ice cream at Dairy Queen. Today she was at it again. It was her class's open house at day care, and she left with a cookie. I was holding it while she got in the car, and as she jumped up, she knocked the cookie out of my hand onto the road. I knew it was going to cause a meltdown, so I tried not to say anything, but when she asked for it, I told her what had happened, and the tears started. Sarah and I told her that we would get her a new cookie when we stopped at the meat market on the way home. She made a big deal about choosing which cookies she wanted, and after finally settling on the chocolate frosted cookies, the lady behind the counter gave her a chocolate chip cookie. I guess I need to take her to a car dealership and see what kind of deal she can get me.
Tonight was bath night again. I took out the trash.

Rock, Paper, Scissors
I should start off by saying that I am amazed at how far we have come as a civilization. It wasn't that long ago that people were washing their clothes in a wash tub, and even I know what it is like to have to wash dishes in the sink. Today, we have machines that help do these things for us. It blows my mind that a machine can wash something fragile like a glass plate, but no one has thought to invent a machine to wash people. I hate giving myself a bath or taking a shower, so why would I enjoy giving someone else a bath.
These were the thoughts in my head as bath time rolled around tonight. I love Mira, but there are only so many times you can get squirted in the face by a little purple octopus before it gets old. It kept getting closer and closer. Sarah had already mentioned that it was bath night to Mira once, and Mira was already asking for someone to fill up the tub. I tried to think quickly. I stood up and said to Sarah, "What do you want to do, bath or dishes?" hoping for a quick "bath" response. She turned the tables and asked what I wanted to do. Not wanting to let on that I would rather do dishes, I said, "Let's do rock, paper, scissors." I could have left it there and things would have been fine, but I had to throw in, "Loser gets the girl." That's it, I was caught. Sarah called me on it, but agreed to do bath anyway. That's why I love her, she's always willing to do the things I hate. Just kidding Sarah, but I do love you.

Two and Terrible
I thought we were pretty lucky. Mira is just 8 days shy of being two and a half, and I would never have said that she was in "The Terrible Twos." Lately, though, she seems to be screaming at the drop of a hat. After our drip to Walmart tonight, I would definately say she terribling it up.
She didn't get the ball she wanted, so she laid on the floor screaming in the aisle. She was inconsolable, so Sarah took her into the restroom to calm down. She finally did, but then screamed again when Sarah tried to hold the trash can lid for her.
When they got back to me, she was crying about a CD she had heard that she wanted from the baby department. I thought she wanted to hear her monkey song, so when I played that the screaming started again. At this point, Sarah took her out to the car, and I finished the shopping as quick as I could forgetting the eggs in the process. Oh well, we go to Walmart every other day.

I did the math
In case anyone tried to count the number of Eve's I should have had in the post last night, there should have been 105 eves. There are that many days before New Year's Day.

Oops!
See, I'm so out of practice. My resolution is to post something at least once a week. This makes three posts today, so I'm already two weeks ahead. Wish me luck!
New Year's Resolution
I know I only have three followers out there, and one of them is myself, so I just put a link to Facebook. So if you are reading this for the first time welcome. That being said, I know I don't post on here enough, and it's not because I don't have enough stories. Mira takes care of that for me. So....I have decided to make an early New Year's Resolution (Maybe we could call it a New Year's Eve Eve Eve etc. Resolution, you get the point). So if you are a new follower or an old follower, make a comment to cheer me on. That way I'll know that someone is actually listening, err reading.
Mira's Dolphin
I'm sitting at Levi Coffin Days and Mira is kicking the inflatable dolphin around that she won yesterday. I yell out, "Mira, quit kicking your dolphin!" a few minutes later Sarah picked it up and said she thought there was a hole in it. (this is my favorite part) I said, "No, its blowhole is open."
